If you haven't read up on what the different types of pianos there are and what to look for before you buy your first piano, please read our blogposts here: What to look for before buying your FIRST piano and New Students: What to look for a piano?
The reason why I put FIRST is because most likely you will purchase another type of piano in the future. For now, here are my QUICK 10 tips to think about before you make that FIRST purchase. Does my piano require or have...
Lastly, be patient in this process. Sometimes keyboards are back-ordered due to high demand...and other times, you might need something for a year and then work towards upgrading or trading in. I've seen students become demotivated simply because they didn't have the right type of instrument or they started with a keyboard that does not serve them...and instead ruin their fingers and technique. This usually happens because they are using an outdated or a keyboard that is beyond beginner's piano level. For this reason, I highly recommend all students to begin with atleast a digital piano and/or if must, a keyboard that has weighted sensitive keys. This is a must. Otherwise, you risk playing on a toy piano and that will not help you with staying motivated to create the beautiful sounds. For parents who are considering learning the piano for the long run, an acoustic piano is the way to go! Any acoustic piano is better than any digital piano and/or keyboard. However, for convenience, I would recommend a digital piano as the next best piano for your child. While I don't endorse any brands, I must say that the Kawai brand of digital pianos is the way to go. For students who are serious about piano and don't have room for an acoustic, I recommend the Kawai piano brand. Hello Parents,
We happily invite you and your child to join our Group Piano For Kids Program! Our fun and innovative group program gives you and your child the opportunity to create a memorable FIRST piano learning experience. What makes it memorable? Our first two terms give students and their parents a chance to fully dive into learning the instrument. Students are encouraged to participate in levelled challenges, two mini recital performances, ensemble "teamplay" activities, while simultaneously building up their confidence and practise habits. Parents are supported by participating in onboarding workshops, video practices, and step-by-step expectations of what is expected to help their child feel successful weekly. In addition, all students attend one weekly in-person lesson and one weekly online coaching session. This ensures everyone is given the support they need outside of the weekly in-person lessons and to keep everyone involved "The Pyramid - Parent, Child, Teacher" accountable. In addition, students will each receive a personalized workbook, report card at the end of each term, and certificate of completion for each level. All of our piano programs move progress towards RCM exams and festivals. The benefits of the transformations that you and your child will receive...will depend on how much work you put in. We've curated some amazing programs including licensing the KeyNotes Group Piano Program to ensure all students jump right into the creativity, collaboration, and levelled challenges. We believe that when students are given buildable tasks each week and come back feeling good about their playing, they will internally want to learn more! To get started, apply today! Get a kickstart to learning the piano with a mix of hybrid activities!
This Summer program will be offered every year starting June to September. This program is great for students age 6+ and/or have a parent who already knows how to play the piano (for younger than 6+). Learn piano along with Miss Donna! There are 6 missions to complete, 4 lesson videos, and a Superhero themed workbook! Students will have full access online to Piano Maestro (from the creators of Simply Piano) and the Supersonics Plus Piano Program. We will be using these two programs as it allows for students to excel and learn as fast as they want or take it as slow as they want. In addition, students are invited to meet with Miss Donna for two private piano lesson sessions and up to 4 group piano sessions. Group piano sessions will consist of theory, ensemble, and performance! This program is a mix of self-learning and meeting with the teacher to ensure you are making progress! We are still accepting students for 2022! Join us today! Hi Everyone!
It's Miss Donna. I'm finally ready to in new students. If you've ever wanted to learn piano with me, now is the time. Once I'm filled, I'll be moving forward to building my team. Lots of love, Miss Donna Congratulations to all of our performers! We had a fabulous and memorable first piano recital since Covid-19 pandemic/lockdowns. I'm so proud of all of my students and families and I wanted to splurge during this recital to show them my appreciation for supporting me and allowing me to continue doing what I have devoted my life to...that is to teaching, coaching, and mentoring students to do and be their best in piano and all their endeavours. We hired a photographer who took these amazing photos for us and this recital would not have been possible without the help of my fiance and all of the families who helped me set-up and set-down. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart. Warmest, Miss Donna To see the student's performances, please visit our school's Youtube Channel! Our first in-person recital since... December 2019!
We can't wait for our exceptional students showcase their playing. Let's do this! The courage of living is - to take risks, to fail, to get up, and to try again. Try again differently.
